A recent survey of the best drug rehab centers in Sensenada, Mexico, showed that only a
handful are as effective as Clinica Nuevo Ser. The clinic, which also serves patients from
Texas, Arizona, and California have doubled their patient population in the past three years. This
is a phenomenon that has not occurred in its twenty years of operation. As a result, 30 to 60
    percent of patients are opioid-dependent.
    Anexo

The abuses at Anexo drug rehab centers in Sensenada, Mexico, have long been a topic of
discussion in Mexico. While Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto has pledged to do more to
ensure the conditions of these facilities are humane, these abuses continue. According to a
2011 law, a special task force was formed to close down anxo centers in Mexico City.
Privately owned rehabilitation centers are notorious for their lack of oversight. A recent
investigation of one such facility in Tonala, Baja California, revealed that the center actively
recruited halcones, or hitmen. The investigation also exposed how private rehabilitation
centers were prone to hiring halcones. While few investigations have been conducted to date,
the findings of this investigation have been reported in the press.
While many Mexican treatment centers are government-run, anexos are privately owned and
operate independently. The researchers visited three anexos in Northern California, and conducted
interviews with 42 residents, three former anexo directors, and two assistant directors. While
the conditions at an anexo may not be as harsh as in an anexo, they still provide important
insights into the lives of Latino immigrants in the United States and in drug treatment.
The National Commission Against Addiction (NCA) has been launching a campaign to increase
awareness of the problems at Anexo centers. The campaign has been met with criticism for
being dramatized and hasn’t done anything to combat the problem. Private initiatives have
been setting up rehabilitation centers with government capital and loans, but the authorities
haven’t made any progress in the fight against drug addiction.
The Anexo drug rehab centers in Sensenada, Mexico were founded to serve as a response to
the country’s widespread drug problems. Despite their illegal status, anexos are widely used in
the country and are the only treatment option available to people suffering from addiction. In
addition, anexos are also more affordable than private treatment programs in Mexico. And they
don’t require any insurance, so there’s no need to worry about payment.
    Familia Michoacana
The Familia Michoacana drug rehabilitation centers in Sensenada, Mexico were the pioneers
of gang-based rehab. The Juarez cartel imitated the Familia Michoacana’s successful model,
beating up Juarez gang members who entered rehab. This case was unusual because of the
way the gang members were recruited – emotional indoctrination.
La Familia Michoacana is notorious for its methamphetamine production. In the 1980s, the
group was formed to protect the poor. However, the drug cartel has evolved into a highly
ambitious criminal group. In addition to methamphetamine production, the group controls petty
crime and settles local conflicts. Since then, it has become Mexico’s largest supplier of
methamphetamine to the United States. Its reputation has given it an edge when transitioning
    into a gang.
Drug addiction is a problem for people of all ages. Drug rehab centers in Michoacan are no
exception to this. Unfortunately, they often serve a dual purpose. The rehabilitation centers
are meant to be “rehab” centers, but the fact that they are so popular among youths doesn’t
help anyone. In the past, the Familia Michoacana drug rehab centers in ensenada, Mexico,
have been used by drug cartels to recruit “halcones,” hitmen, and lookouts.

Although Familia Michoacana drug rehabilitation centers in ensenada, Mexico have received
positive reviews from patients and parents, the program’s success rate is lower than other
similar centers. In fact, some residents of these facilities call the rehabilitation centers an
“annex” – a term that describes the residents of the facilities. Its citizens are known as
“annexes” – a term that is often referred to as a slum.
Despite this setback, the government has been largely ignoring the unrest that surrounds drug
rehab centers in the country. Although they are often mentioned in national political
campaigns, they remain an unwelcome burden for society. President Andres Manuel Lopez
Obrador, however, has used the use of drugs as a shield against violence and said that
drug use must be reduced before he can speak on peacebuilding. These statements have yet
to be translated into a public policy.
    Nuevo Ser Clinic
The name of this clinic is similar to those of other similar treatment facilities in Arizona and
California. Its location is central to a variety of popular destinations. A recent study found that
it was the only such facility in Mexico to double the number of young people seeking
treatment. Before, the number of patients had remained unchanged during the 20 years of

operation. However, in the last three years, the number of patients admitted has risen by two-
thirds, with approximately thirty to sixty percent of its patients suffering from opioid addiction.

The recent inauguration of a new facility and the initial discharge of residents believed to have
overcome their drug habits has led to some pride among good Samaritans. However, the lack
of support from authorities has diminished the motivation of these good Samaritans, as
officials have not been able to determine how many of these facilities are operating in Mexico.
This lack of transparency has hampered the efforts of drug rehab centers throughout Mexico.
The Monterrey center uses abstinence-based therapy to help clients overcome their addiction.
Compared to top U.S. clinics, the treatment fee at the Nuevo Ser Clinic is far less than at
home. For a 28-day stay, patients pay just $9,750. While U.S. treatment can cost several
thousands of dollars, treatment in Mexico is only half of that amount.
    Proyecto El Cuete Phase IV
Last year, the Proyecto El Cueté Phase IV drug rehab centers in ensenada began receiving
patients with violent criminal histories. In one instance, a group of armed men and women
kidnapped a police officer in Tala, Jalisco. Another incident saw 25 drug addicts forced to flee
the rehabilitation center in Valle de Santiago, Guanajuato. In another case, on October 24, a
gang killed four people inside an annex of a rehabilitation center in Celaya.
The Mexican government has long overlooked addiction treatment centers in their national
development plans and political campaigns. This is because drug addiction rehabilitation
centers are perceived as a burden, and they are often not even mentioned by name. In fact, a
recent study found that the current President of Mexico, Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, has
used drug rehab centers as a shield when asked about violence and drug consumption prior to
    peacebuilding.
The investigation into the operation of rehabilitation centers revealed the criminal
organizations’ role in the industry. These groups have access to databases and supervise
annexes. The investigation was conducted by SinEmbargo and has been republished with
permission. The views expressed are solely those of the author and do not necessarily reflect
those of InSight Crime. This report is not a definitive review of all drug rehab facilities in
    Mexico.
In Monterrey, a luxury rehab center opened. Here, patients can receive treatment for drug
addiction at a third of the cost of upscale U.S. clinics. Other amenities include monthly
recovery packages, massages, body masks, and Botox shots. While Americans have
traditionally crossed the border to obtain cheap medicine, now they are choosing Mexico for
    dental and eye surgery.
